Brief Biography

Brooks Crone was born in Memphis, TN.  She was the youngest of four siblings having three older brothers.   She grew up riding horses and continues to enjoy her equine friends.  She began cheerleading and tumbling at the age of ten so that she could be on the  football field with her brothers.  She cheered all the way through high school finishing her career with two national championship titles and being captain of her team.  Along with cheerleading, she was involved with the track team jumping hurdles and pole vaulting.  She never had any time to spare.  When she turned sixteen, she started working two jobs---life guarding and being a cashier at a restaurant.  She was very active in her community.  She went on two Katrina relief trips and a mission trip to Guatemala.  She also was a big sister to a little boy and participated in various community service races and other events around town.
She began practicing healthy eating very early on in her life.  Because she would partake in so many physical activities in the afternoon, she would have to plan what she was going to eat for the whole day starting at 6 am when she woke up.  She knew that if she did not eat breakfast, she would be tired the whole morning until she ate lunch.  So,  she would wake up earlier than anyone in the house to eat a balanced meal.  She would then pack her lunch with a meal that would give her enough energy to be able to perform on the cheerleading mat until late in the afternoon, but not make her too full where she felt weighed down.  She was the main tumbler on the cheerleading team: if her body was not adequately nourished during the day, the back-twisting 'layout', or 'full' she had to throw would end up crashing to the floor.  After cheer season, Track and field began.   She would go from school to pole vault practice or to Big Brother/ Big Sister to work in the evening.  It would have been easy for her to just grab fast food on the way to work, but because she planned out her meals for the day, she would have a  healthy snack waiting for her. She realized what eating properly meant to her energy and to her ability to meet her obligations.  This is what prompted Brooks to begin a career in Nutrition.    When she was visiting colleges,  she looked for an excellent Nutrition program knowing that she would be inspired and excel in this special interest.
Throughout college, she was an active member in clubs and campus organizations.  She worked two and three jobs at a time while being a full time student.  Currently, Brooks is a senior at University of Tennessee majoring in Nutrition with plans to graduate in the Spring of 2011.  After graduation, she plans on moving to California to complete an internship and pass the Registered Dietitian exam.
Brooks is a down-to-earth, people person with a bubbly, positive attitude.  Her mother said, "The prettiest thing a person could wear was a smile."  Therefore, you will not see her without a smile.  She loves to live and lives to love.    She is always looking for a way to improve and push herself to do the best she can.  She really enjoys working with people and helping others.  She is only truly happy if everyone else around her is as well.  She always brings a happy atmosphere because a positive attitude is contagious. A chef once said to her, "You have a way that makes people smile inside."
